Meet the Owners!
Hello and welcome to We Rock The Spectrum Spring/Branch/Memorial! My name is Jill and I have been working with children in some capacity for over 20 years. After receiving an Early Childhood education degree from Texas Tech University, I worked in a Head Start Program in Lubbock. Soon after, I was the lead teacher in a Kindergarten through 5th grade multi-handicap special education classroom. Each month I was able to bring my students on field trips, sharing mainstream activities. Through these moments of incorporating real world activities couched with special accommodations, helped my students learn adaptations that allowed them to feel more comfortable in the real world. I then taught kindergarten inclusion classes for 4 years before starting my family.
After taking some time to raise my own family, I returned to the classroom as a Developmental teacher for kindergarten – 5th graders. Although I had an array of ages and abilities in my room, they all had a common need for some form of sensory input. To keep children engaged in the learning process, they need equal parts structured and unstructured time and play, along with adequate sensory breaks. Meeting these needs of children along with a wonderful parent of mine led me to We Rock The Spectrum Gym.This parent sent me the link the gym and I was sold. The gym incorporates my passion for providing all children the best experiences in life to set them on a path for individual success. Along with my amazing husband’s support, my beautiful blended family and the family of We Rock the Spectrum , my dream is becoming a reality!
The Gym offers a safe, warm environment for children of all ages and levels. Combining my professional knowledge of special needs children and my real life experience of raising children, with the We Rock the Spectrum ; your child is guaranteed to learn, grow and leave the Gym a better person.
